On Monday, June 16, 2025, the fair was held in Fukuoka at first time. Kyushu University has been deepening its ties with Europe since opening its Stockholm Liaison Office in 2020. Through the activites by the office and MIRAI, the university successfully co-host the event with the Embassy of Sweden in Japan.
The event welcomed around 50 diverse audiences, including university students, alumni with experience in Sweden, and those who are interested in working in Sweden or Swedish companies.
The fair opened with remarks from Ms. Johanna Lindqvist, Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of Sweden, and Mr. Fumio Kuma, Honorary Consul of Sweden in Fukuoka. The program included with several informative presentations by the embassy, Lund University as well as five Kyushu University students and alumni who shared their personal experiences studying in Sweden.
The fair tried for a unique format—connecting study abroad with career development at one event. Presentations by IKEA Fukuoka Shingu and Seibu Giken, both companies are located in Fukuoka and with strong ties to Sweden, highlighted their business and relathinship with Sweden.
Prior to the event, a courtesy visit was held at Kyushu University’s Ito Campus. Executive Vice President Prof. Kenji Iwata and Vice President Prof. Natalie Konomi met with Swedish representatives to discuss for further collaboration of research, education and innovation.
